Welcome to Saylor Sewing: a Journey of Creativity and Craftsmanship.

Hi there! I'm Susan Taylor, the proud owner and bridal seamstress behind Saylor Sewing, and I'm thrilled to have you here. I can't wait to share my passion for sewing and my experiences with you as we embark on this exciting journey together.

Let me start by giving you a glimpse into my sewing roots. My love affair with sewing began at a young age, around 11 or 12 when I was introduced to the art by my grandmother and great-grandmother, both talented seamstresses in their own right. The vintage machine you see below is the very one I learned to sew on – a cherished heirloom passed down from my great-grandmother. From sewing for my dolls to experimenting with patterns and creating garments for myself, I was hooked from the start.

As I progressed through high school, I was fortunate enough to enroll in design classes, where my fascination with fashion and design deepened. I found myself drawn to the intricate process of manipulating patterns to craft custom looks, fueling my creativity and igniting a passion that would shape my future.

But it wasn't until I found myself bringing sewing projects to my day job that I realized this wasn't just a hobby – it was my calling. Sewing on buttons during lunch breaks and hemming costumes in between reception calls, I knew I needed a career that would allow me to fully immerse myself in my craft. In 2010, I landed a job at an alterations shop, where I spent the next five years honing my skills and perfecting my craft.

And now, here we are today! I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to work with every one of you. From altering gowns to crafting one-of-a-kind pieces, every project is a new adventure, a puzzle waiting to be solved. Each step in the alteration journey is uniquely rewarding, and I find immense joy in helping you bring your vision to life.

So, whether you're a newly engaged bride-to-be or simply looking to breathe new life into your wardrobe, I'm here to guide you through the process with care, expertise, and a whole lot of creativity. Thank you for joining me on this journey – I can't wait to see what we'll create together next!
