Full-Time Seamstress
Position Overview:
It is our mission to give people the confidence and freedom to express themselves through clothes. As a small growing business, each person will hold many roles. Our Seamstress is primarily responsible for altering & repairing garments and pinning & measuring during fittings. Secondary responsibilities would include aanswering calls, scheduling appointments, checking clients in & out, processing retail orders & purchases, and maintaining the appearance of the shop. They play a key role within Saylor Sewing whose responsibility is to uphold our company’s core values of representing body positivity and confidence. This is accomplished by encouraging positive self talk, complimenting others freely, giving positive feedback directed toward a garment, encouraging other to express their individuality, and embracing all forms of fashion & style.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual willing to grow with the business. Alterations is an on going learning process and is most beneficial for a long term commitment. No experience needed but welcomed. We provide on the job training and all resources provided.

Regular raises, bonuses, and occasional tips.

Some sewing experience & knowledge preferred but no experience needed.

Must be 18 years of age or older

Responsibilities:
-
Alterations: Assessing, de-constructing, and reconstructing a garment.
-
Fittings: Evaluating the fit and concerns of garments. Pinning and measuring to address concerns. Must be able to be on your knees. Some fittings require ground work.

Communication: Ability to professionally communicate with clients in person and via phone, email, text etc.

Can remain body positive and unapologetically positive.

Math: Math plays a huge role in the alterations process. Adding and subtracting fractions, precise measuring, and totaling amounts of money.

Efficiency: Attention to quality and detail while being proficient and meeting deadlines.

Be ok with knowing that you may not pick this up immediately and we are committed to helping you learn the process (in shorter words, don't freak out when you mess up because you will and its not as easy as you think it will be)

A Sewer is occasionally required to sit for long periods. Physical ability to lift and maneuver 30lbs throughout the shop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
