Part-Time I Growth Opportunity

Saylor Sewing is a growing bridal and formal alterations studio specializing in expert fit, craftsmanship, and exceptional client experience. We are looking for a reliable,

detail-oriented Studio Assistant to support our sewing team and help keep our studio running smoothly.

This is an entry-level position with room for growth into a seamstress role

for the right candidate.

 

Position Overview:

The Studio Assistant plays an important behind-the-scenes role in our daily workflow. This position ensures our seamstresses can focus on skilled alterations by handling garment preparation, studio upkeep, and light client-facing tasks.

Details

• Part-time help

• 10-16 hours a week

• Weekday afternoon and evening hours and most Saturdays 

• Must work 2-3 Saturdays a month

• No Holidays

• Flexible time off

• PTO

• Regular raises, bonuses, and occasional tips.

• Some sewing experience & knowledge preferred but no experience needed.

• Must be 16 years of age or older

Responsibilities

Garment Preparation & Support

• Steam and press gowns and formalwear

• Maintain water levels in irons and steamers

• Prepare garments for sewing

• Remove lace and beading carefully

• Hand sew lace and embellishments (training provided)

• Prep gowns for fittings

Studio Maintenance

• Prepare and reset fitting rooms

• Restock supplies (measuring tapes, pins, scissors, etc.)

• Break down boxes and manage recycling

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of studio

Client Support (with training)

• Greet clients warmly

• Answer phones

• Schedule appointments

• Assist with light reception duties

While performing the duties of this Job, employees are regularly required to stand; use hands & fingers, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. A Sewer is occasionally required to sit for long periods. Physical ability to lift and maneuver 30lbs throughout the shop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
